🍲 White bean and bacon soup
Bring on the theme of bean. + New recipe cards!
Hey Soup Enthusiast,
So many people are moving towards a plant based diet and vegetarian meals are becoming a regular site at our dinner tables.
My family have jumped on the band wagon and we too have been trying out vegetarian meals to become healthier. Not so long ago we ate a three bean Chilli and it was a tasty treat.
Todays soup is not vegetarian but, it does bring the theme of bean.
Before we dive in.
On the topic of becoming healthier, between 22nd March 2024 and 22nd June 2024, a good friend of mine has taken on the heroic challenge to swim 22 miles and participating in the Swim22 for diabetes.
People I know personally live with it or have lived with it everyday and I couldn't be prouder to support them in this way!
🍲 White bean and bacon soup
A healthy and flavorful soup that is bursting with flavor. It is a satisfying soup that takes on the flavor of the bacon while the cannellini beans give it a wonderful texture.

I really enjoyed the soup because of the flavor. It was real a treat during lunch at work! The texture was nice, especially with the beans, bacon and onions added after blending.
When cooked, cannellini beans, otherwise known as white kidney beans, can develop a creamy texture that works wonders in soup. While the soup was not that creamy, the beans did develop a nice texture for the soup.
One thing that stood out to me about the texture that made it all the more of a delight to eat was the addition of the beans, bacon and onions which were added after blending to add a little extra to every bite.
Now lets take a look at the recipe, on our new recipe cards might I add.

Check out the video.

🥫 Ingredient of the week: cannellini beans
Fact - Canclini beans, are full of fiber, protein, and carbohydrates while being extremally low in sugar.
Cooking tip - Blended Canclini beans can be used to give soup more of a creamy texture without using cream.

New recipe cards
We now have a new recipe card design! I think looks better but, most importantly it has a notes section for you to write down your additions and twists to the recipe.
Better photography 📷
Last week I mentioned about the lighting for the photos. Unfortunately the paper was way too thick for the light to shine through properly so I am looking for alternatives such as tissue, or tissue paper.
New recipe cards
I have been improving the recipe card over the last two weeks and I am pleased how it has turn out.
You may also have noticed the new difficulty scale to fit in with my focus on making things easier and speedier for you. Additionally, I have added a new “your notes” section so you can easily amend the recipe to your taste.
If you have any suggestions, I would love to here them!
General improvements
I have been working on a new logo desighn. It may change yet but, the one we now have is in my opinion a step up.
You may not see much difference yet but we need to add the ingredients before stirring the pot. If you have any suggestions, I would be delighted to hear them. 👍
Soups to consider
This weeks soup might not be for you. Take a look at some of these suggestions!
