🍲 Chicken soup

πŸ” If you love a hearty chicken soup, this one is for you.

Hey Soup Enthusiast,

I have just recovered from an illness which means I can now send you another tasty soup recipe. If you love a hearty chicken soup, this one is for you.

On the topic of recovering from an illness, you may remember I mentioned that my first blog post is coming out today. If you want to find out why we eat soup when we have a cold and if it is really helps, click here to find out.

🍲 Today's soup: Chicken soup

The chicken soup was very tasty and there is a lot of ways it could be tweaked to suit your taste. For me, the recipe was very tasty but it was a little too thin. To remedy this I added some potatoes which thickened the broth.

One of our community members wrote in to mention how they β€œmake chicken soup with fennel and potato added to thicken and a few hot chilli flakes to add heat.”

I enjoyed the addition of the peas which had a slightly sweet taste and the carrots added more texture. A great addition you could consider adding, could be parsley or bay leaves.

I used chicken stock cubes for flavoring the broth but, if you save the bones, why not try making your own stock?

πŸ” Ingredient of the week: Chicken

Fact - Chicken soup is one of the most common soup ingredients thought of to fight a cold since the 12th century. Chicken reduces inflammation which unclogs the airways allowing easier breathing.
